Curriculum

Participants will rotate their daily lessons on a weekly basis with a master voice teacher and coach pairing.  Each teaching pair will specialize in a specific style and language for the four week period: Italian, French, German, English; enabling all participants the opportunity of working with each teaching artist for a full week on each language and style.

At the end of each week there will be two performance evenings where all participants will perform a concert of arias learned for the general public at venues around Northern Michigan. There will also be a gala scenes performance presented at the end of the program.

In addition there will be weekly workshops such as Body Mapping and Alexander Technique taught by faculty member MaryJean Allen; Musical Theatre styles and techniques; Audition Strategies; and other topics to be announced.

Health and Fitness

Fitness and health is a integral part of our program.  You will start your day with daily fitness and nutrition classes Monday through Friday utilizing aerobics, yoga, pilates and strength training. These classes are meant to teach young artists how to manage stress and stay healthy while pursuing a demanding vocal career.

Performance spaces

All lessons and classes will take place in the Boyne City Performing Arts Facility located 3 miles from where you will housed. Our Friday evening performances and gala scenes program will take place in the state-of-the-art 620 seat theatre pictured at left.  The center has practice and class rooms available to us throughout the program period.

Communities around the "Up North" area provide other performance venues from the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island to the Odmark Pavillon in Charlevoix.
